                                      Introduction

Tata Steel BSL has become one of the largest Manufacturers of High Carbon, low alloy Hardened & Tempered Steel with a combined production capacity of about 2200 MT / Month at its two plants at Khopoli and Sahibabad.Carbon Steel Strips produced by continuous heat treatment acquire a unique combination of flexibility and toughness, which is best obtained by the time tested "Metal Quenching Technology" used at Tata Steel BSL for producing Hardened & Tempered Steel. The Hardened & Tempered Steel thus produced acquires an excellent proportion of "Hardness and Ductility" with superior Flatness and Straightness ; therefore performs well with equal proficiency for diverse applications in different industries including Wood working, Automobile, Stone Cutting, Masonry Tools, Springs, Textile and Leather processing Industries. Tata Steel BSL has globally positioned itself as a most reliable and trusted producer of Hardened & Tempered Steel.

Hardened & Tempered Strips of Low, Medium & High alloy carbon steel is Produced with a Unique proccesing faciltiy is introduced first time in India. Liquid metal bath quenching with automatic computerised temperature control system is employed which is different from the conventionally used oil quenching process. The process to produce Bainitic steel strips having unique combination of hardness with ductibility that improves the toughness property.

The hardening and tempering furnace line is from world leader EBNER - Austria. The strip grinding and polishing line to achieve the desired surface finish are from BREUER - Germany. The edge profiling Machine to provide desired shape to edge of the Hardened & Tempered Strip is from JULIUS - Germany and slitting machine equipped with tools from NEUENKAMP - Germany is from DAEHYUN - Korea.
